In a bid to bolster its status as a global hub for innovation and technology, Hong Kong is actively pursuing a deeper partnership with Saudi Arabia. This strategic move was highlighted during a recent meeting between Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee and Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Alswaha.
The meeting coincided with the inaugural LEAP East event in Hong Kong, marking the first time this international technology exhibition has taken place outside the Middle East. This event has attracted hundreds of speakers and exhibitors from across the globe, showcasing the increasing collaboration within the global tech industry.
Hosting such a significant event underscores Hong Kong’s expanding ties with Saudi Arabia and cements its role as a crucial gateway for international businesses entering Asian markets, according to Lee. He extended an invitation to Saudi companies, entrepreneurs, and technology experts to leverage Hong Kong as a strategic platform for their expansion in Asia. Lee emphasized the potential for enhanced cooperation in innovation, technology, and investment between the two regions.
The discussions between Lee and Alswaha highlighted a mutual commitment to deepening economic and technological ties. Both parties are keen to explore new avenues for long-term cooperation, reflecting a shared vision for future growth and collaboration in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
