China is set to embark on a month-long initiative aimed at enhancing public comprehension of scientific innovation and boosting science literacy across the nation. Dubbed the National Science Popularization Month, the campaign will emphasize the theme “Science Transforms Lives, Innovation Secures the Future,” and will feature an extensive array of exhibitions, lectures, science tours, and activities designed to engage the public.
As part of the program, Beijing will host more than 100 exhibitions and events at major venues, offering a platform for knowledge dissemination and scientific exploration. Meanwhile, national scientific societies will orchestrate over 150 activities throughout the country, all with the goal of making both basic research and emerging scientific advancements more understandable and accessible to the general populace.
An exciting aspect of the initiative is the opportunity it provides for visitors to delve deeper into scientific progress by gaining access to laboratories and research facilities. These interactive experiences are designed to foster greater public interest in the latest scientific breakthroughs and innovations.
In addition to the domestic activities, the program will feature an international dimension with the 2026 World Conference on Science Literacy. Scheduled for mid-September in Beijing, this conference will convene representatives from various countries to engage in discussions about science literacy and explore avenues for international cooperation in the field.
