Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged the Xizang Autonomous Region to build a modern socialist Xizang characterized by unity, prosperity, harmony, and ecological beauty. Xi made the remarks after reviewing work reports from regional authorities, emphasizing stability, development, environmental protection, and border security as key priorities.
Highlighting the progress achieved in Xizang over the past 60 years, Xi stressed the importance of political and social stability, ethnic unity, and harmonious religious coexistence. He called for stronger economic, cultural, and personnel exchanges between Xizang and other regions of China and for guiding Tibetan Buddhism to adapt to socialist society.

He encouraged the advancement of major projects, including the Yarlung Zangbo hydropower initiative and the Sichuan-Xizang Railway, while promoting ecological conservation, carbon reduction, pollution control, and green development.
Xi also emphasized the continued leadership of the Communist Party of China in guiding Xizang’s development and reaffirmed the need for coordinated efforts to protect the region as “the roof of the world” and “the water tower of Asia.”
