HAKONE, JAPAN – Hotel Okura has announced plans to open Okura Resort Hakone Gora in 2029, marking the company’s first resort property in Japan. The development introduces a distinctive concept in Hakone’s hot spring market by offering private bathing facilities in every guest room.
The resort will feature 58 guest rooms, each equipped with a private outdoor hot spring bath supplied with authentic Owakudani thermal water. This approach eliminates the need for shared bathing areas and allows guests to enjoy hot spring experiences at their convenience.
Designed by award-winning designer Gwenael Nicolas, the resort follows a “Forest Hideaway” concept that integrates natural materials with refined contemporary design. Additional amenities include premium teppanyaki dining and Hotel Okura’s signature service standards.
The project reflects Hotel Okura’s strategic commitment to privacy-focused luxury hospitality and its confidence in the long-term growth of Japan’s domestic resort market.
